Success Spotlight
To look at the arc of Laura Sapp's career is to look at the arc of IAC's growth as well.
She was initially hired in 1999 by one of IAC's forerunner companies as an assistant to one of its executives.
"I had just moved to New York City and had been interviewing with many companies. To this day, I remember walking for the first time into the doors of IAC. It was that feeling of wow, this is different.I had an interview with Human Resources and they told me to sit tight. Ten minutes later, I was interviewing again and they offered me the job that day."
She was quickly promoted to assist Barry Diller and was present for the birth of the "new" IAC where her career would continue to rise.
"I was offered the chance to assist in the chairman's office and I accepted without really asking what it entailed. To date, it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. I was thrown in, asked a million questions and figured it out (with lots of help from brilliant co-workers along the way.)"
"It was such a great spot to land - I was a fly on the wall, watching, learning, trying to absorb everything and anything I could. I watched as IAC grew and was given opportunities I only dreamed of."
A few years later, her knowledge of IAC coupled with great enthusiasm landed her in the company's Human Resources Department as a Manager, where she was tasked with finding the next number of great IAC employees.
"During my time in the Chairman's office, I made so many great friends across many of the IAC businesses. I found I was being pulled into interviews, being called upon for advice on hiring, giving my thoughts about what worked and what didn't work, and moving into HR seemed like a great fit. When I made the jump, I was very fortunate to have a great mentor in my boss who, once again, didn't get annoyed with my countless questions!"
After spending several years in Corporate HR, at the end of 2008, Sapp's next stint was in Human Resources at IAC's gaming business, InstantAction, where she oversaw the company's employee growth at its 2 offices in Portland and Las Vegas.
Finally in late August, 2010, Sapp transferred to Match.com's Dallas, TX headquarters as Senior Human Resources Manager.
"Coming to Match has been a great experience and I am thrilled to be joining a dynamic team. The minute I stepped into Match's office, it just felt right once again! Looking back, I'm proud to see so many of the original IAC employees I helped hire flourishing in their careers and I hope to be able to look back after a year and see the same at Match!"
Laura Sapp's IAC career truly represents IAC's commitment to career mobility and that is why she is our latest Success Spotlight.
